OK so I've realized that I LOVE to make theme cakes!! They are so much fun and I love hearing people tell me how great they came out! I'm not a professional at all, but I think I'm getting better with every cake I make. I recently decided I that I want to start selling them to make a little extra cash... It's something I really enjoy doing and if I can make a little money doing something I enjoy then yay for me! lol
So here are the cakes I have made so far...
This was my first cake... My daughters 1st birthday. It was duckie themed and it's supposed to be duckies in a bathtub... Looks pretty retarded, I know. LOL! It was probably one of the most irritating ones I've made just because it was my first cake and I was in a rush to get it done... I made it the day of my daughters birthday... like an hour before it started, while also trying to finish up the food and make sure I had everything to bring over to the hall where the party was. Oh and trying to get me and my little lady dressed and ready...
So yea.... This is the result of a cake being rushed and finished like 5 minutes before running out the door...

It tasted yummy though.... ha ha...
On to my second cake!!
This one I made for my Niece's 1st birthday. My sister wanted a Pirate theme and so I thought, well then we obviously need a treasure chest cake! This one was really fun and I think is when I stared to really enjoy decorating! I was pretty happy with how it came out! We got the "booty" from the dollar store. The sand is smashed up vanilla wafers. It was a sheet cake (11x15) that I just cut in half. The only thing that bugged me was the lining around the cake was uneven and kind of crappy looking. I should of put the frosting back into the fridge for a bit before piping it on...
(Pirate chest cake)
This was for my daughters second birthday! I decided to try whipped cream icing and it came out SO yummy!! I used the little tubes of gel icing for the black, orange and red on the cake. Oh and blue for his eyes too! She was very excited when she saw her cake!
(Spongebob Cake)
Here is my Niece's second birthday! I used a glass bowl to bake the cake for the head and a cupcake cut in half for her ears. The nose is chocolate chips, and the banana's are just little candies. I know really need to work on making lines and things... I guess I need to learn to steady my hand better!
(Monkey Cake)
My daughter wanted a Tinkerbell birthday so I made a cake with Tink and her fairy friends! I got the fairies from the Disney Store and the Toadstools are made from Gum Paste. The flowers and grass I got from Wal-mart. I wish I had thought of coconut (like on my next cake) for the grass on this cake.... It just looked a little off and I think the coconut grass would of completed it and made it look more finished.
(Tinkerbell cake)
This is my most recent cake. I made it for a friend for her fathers birthday. The Harley was just a toy, and the Harley sign, I cut from the box. The fence is made from lolly pop sticks that I cut and colored with non toxic crayons, and glued together. The grass is coconut and the dirt is a crushed up graham cracker. The rocks are made from Gum Paste that I colored with black food coloring... I didn't mix it all the way in so that the rocks would have a swirly more realistic look.
I wish I had piped some icing onto the bottom of the cake to make it look more finished...
(Harley Davidson Cake)
Well that's it for now!! I have more birthday's coming up so there will be more cakes soon!!
